The LAMP Learning Consortium is a shared Sakai system hosted by Longsight for small learning organizations and colleges who want to be able to utilize the powerful and easy-to-use Sakai LMS without hosting it themselves. We partner with you to take care of the Sakai hosting and support, provide access to integrations and instructional designers, and get your courses up and running immediately.
Access to Sakai LMS, Video Conferencing, and More
The Sakai Learning Management System is an award-winning open source LMS. Longsight will take care of the technology so your organization can focus on your students and your courses without worrying about the pesky technology details. As part of the LAMP Sakai instance, we also provide Big Blue Button for video conferencing, and optional integrated services, such as Warpwire for integrated video streaming, and Turnitin for plagiarism detection.
Instructional Design Consulting
Remote learning can be a different experience entirely than in-person learning. If you're teaching a course online for the first time, we can connect you with instructional designers who can help you construct a course that works well remotely and helps your students learn and respond to your content more efficiently and effectively.
Cloud Hosting and Support
As a LAMP member you won't have to worry about Sakai Hosting or Support. Longsight, Sakai's most prominent commercial hosting partner, will host your Sakai instance and provide support.
Branding and Community
Depending on your plan, we can customize your Sakai instance with your own logo, colors, and brand so it looks like your system from the inside out. You'll also be part of the larger LAMP and Sakai communities, which means you'll be able to tap into the expertise and the experience of a large user community and the spirit of open-source software.

Is Sakai a good learning management system?
Yes. The independent Software Reviews site ranks Sakai as a leader in the Education Learning Management category.
If Sakai is Open Source, why can't I run it myself?
Sakai is completely open source, which means you could download it, install it, and run it completely on your own. However, most organizations find they don't have the technical skills or resources to do that. Running Sakai on your own would mean purchasing and maintaining servers, keeping the operating system and database up to date, applying patches and upgrades to Sakai, as well as being an expert both in the Sakai codebase and its operation for teaching and learning.
That's where the LAMP Learning Consortium comes in. We take care of the technical details so that you can focus on teaching and learning. Our goal is to make the details of running and maintaining the technology as invisible as possible so that you can do what you love: reaching learners.
Can I use my own branding on Sakai?
Yes. At the Curriculum and Enterprise levels, we will build a custom skin for your courses featuring your branding, logo, and color scheme.
Is Sakai secure?
Yes. Sakai follows the latest security protocols and is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), benefiting from AWS's advanced security measures.
Is Sakai accessible?
Yes. Sakai prioritizes accessibility and has a dedicated working group to address and improve accessibility issues. Learn more here.
